Bloom Where You're Planted

I'm finally done with the semester! I'm looking forward to a wonderful summer. Today has been so relaxing! Dennis took the next three days off of work for a mini summer vacation. We slept in this morning, had a yummy breakfast, and are currently working on painting a wall in our living room. I'll post a picture when it's all finished. I'm excited. I love color!

Until then, I have more pictures of the yard. :)

There are two things that I've always wanted, but never had. First is a trellis.
And second, are window boxes! I love my window boxes!

Also, speaking of flowers and "blooming where you're planted," I wanted to include some pictures of my ESL students' artwork. They're all adults and they've all had to adjust to a new life, in a new country, with a new language. That would be so tough! They amaze me every day. We played bingo to help practice body vocabulary on Tuesday. They've also become quite talented at "head shoulders knees and toes." I love using songs in the classroom! Here is some of their amazing artwork..

This little performing group is called "Cheer Studs." Every year for the last pep assembly the 9th grade boys put on skirts and do a little routine. Last year's performed to "I feel like a woman" by Shania Twain, and this year I chose to choreograph to "Mickey" by Toni Basil. :) If you've seen the music video you'll recognize a few moves...

I'm not sure, but I'm hoping everything survives! This is a poor little aspen tree that we planted a week ago. Dennis is skeptical that it will live at all, not because of the snow, but because aspen are so disease prone. Quakies are my favorite kind of tree. It has to live!!! (Also notice, the back fence is done! Wahoo!)

Here's today's project. Dennis is working at the bank today (every few weeks he gets to work Saturdays) but I'm sure as soon as he's home at 1:00 we'll be out finishing staining the fence. It needs it badly!

It seems like all my updates have to do with our yard, but that's the stuff that we really enjoy working on. Also, I haven't been doing anything but writing papers, coming up with lesson plans, grading assignments, and studying for tests... Gotta love the last few weeks of the school year! My teaching sequence went well. I'm kind of sad to be finished (I'd much rather be teaching than writing a 50 page paper) but the end of the semester is in sight! I love school, but I really love SUMMER!
