Water & Fire

My grandpa Jim has some property along the Snake River in Hagerman. We've spent quite a bit of time fixing up the yard to get ready for a family reunion in a few weeks. We (Dennis and dad) laid the last of the sod yesterday, but not until after we
(mom, Dennis & dad) dug out the dirt to make it level for flood irrigating.

Grandpa Jim also found a couple of rafts at a yard sale. We blew them up to test them out for leaks. Meet "Red..." who is less named for her color and more for the duct tape patches that our favorite Canadian, Red Green would be so proud of.

Clara was sooo excited to see if Daddy & G-pop would float or sink!

People thought we were wierd for taking a raft out on a lake, especially one we had thrashed to the back of Dennis' pickup. Apparantly Red was ready to go swimming because she jumped off the pickup when Dennis drove over the Malad River bridge. Don't worry though, there was still one strap attached so she drug behind the truck like a little puppy on a leash. We got her back in the truck and were on our way!

She floats!

Later in the day we saw some of this coming from the North end of the property.

Then we saw about five of these...

Then I went and took pictures of some of this...

and this...
and a little bit of this...

It's amazing what you find when you clear away some of the vegitation! ;)

  1. Wow! This is so cool. I remember when I was in school my Natural Resources Bio. class had to go around and do this stuff...on a much smaller scale. I love that you went rafting! You're my kind of girl!
